Determine Origin of Microsoft Files

1 From the current document >
Go to the File menu >
Click on Properties

Step2
On the Standard toolbar >
click Open >
In the Open dialog box, select the document for which you want to view properties.
Step3
On the Views menu, do any of the following:
o To preview the contents of the file before opening it, click Preview.
o To view such properties as the size of the file and the date the file was last modified, click Details.
o To view all document properties, click Properties.


  • If the document is in a document library (a folder where a collection of files is shared and the files often use the same template. Each file in a library is associated with user-defined information that is displayed in the content listing for that library.), the document library properties are displayed in the File Library Properties dialog box. To see other document properties, click File Properties
  • Toolbar: A bar with buttons and options that you use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, click Customize on the Tools menu, and then click the Toolbars tab
